Phone number lookup

    Check a phone number

Enter a phone number to see if it's been reported as spam or linked to scam activity in our community database.

    Enter any format: (786) 555-0100, 786-555-0100, or +17865550100

Enter a phone number you've received a call or message from to check if it's associated with known scam activity.

If you answer a suspicious call

    Hang up immediately

If a caller pressures you for personal information, payment, or threatens consequences — hang up. Legitimate organizations will not threaten you over the phone.

    Never share personal info

Do not give out your Social Security number, bank account, credit card, or passwords to anyone who calls you unexpectedly.

Call back on an official number

If the caller claims to be from a company or agency, hang up and call the organization directly using the number on their official website.

    Don't trust caller ID

Scammers can spoof caller ID to make it look like they're calling from a trusted number. A familiar area code doesn't mean the call is safe.

    How to report abuse

If you've received unwanted calls from telemarketers or scammers, you can report them to the following authorities:

    • 1
      National Do Not Call Registry

Register your number at donotcall.gov to reduce telemarketing calls. If you're already registered and still getting calls, you can file a complaint on the same site.

    • 2
      Federal Trade Commission (FTC)

Report fraud, scams, and bad business practices at reportfraud.ftc.gov

    • 3
      Federal Communications Commission (FCC)

File a complaint about unwanted calls or spoofed caller ID at consumercomplaints.fcc.gov

    • 4
      Your phone carrier

Most carriers let you report spam by forwarding the call or text details to 7726 (SPAM). You can also block numbers directly in your phone's settings.

    • 5
      Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3)

If you've lost money or been a victim of an internet-related crime, file a complaint at ic3.gov

    Quick tips to protect yourself

    • Let unknown numbers go to voicemail. Legitimate callers will leave a message.
    • Enable your phone's built-in spam call filtering (available on both iPhone and Android).
    • Be wary of calls that create urgency — scammers want you to act before you think.
    • Never pay with gift cards, wire transfers, or cryptocurrency to someone who called you.
    • If it sounds too good to be true — a prize, free vacation, or government grant — it's a scam.
